Launch day: plans, billing and a lot more control
Cakulate is live at cakulate.com. Four plans, a 7 day free trial, quarterly and yearly billing, a calendar with filters, your own speed settings, Cricut topper pricing, and a stronger security setup.
Orders fixes
- Booking an order at your own price (say $175 on a $130 to $150 quote) no longer shows a price change. If you later re-price the cake, your adjustment is kept and the customer approves the new total.
- A quote needs a customer before you can book it, make a customer link or email it, so replies and reminders always reach someone.
- Cancelling an order closes the customer link, stops reminders, and shows the order as cancelled (with any deposit you hold), not unpaid.
- In History, orders show their stage instead of a quote status you could change by mistake.
- Cancelling an order with a paid deposit asks whether you are refunding or keeping it, and records your answer on the order.
- AI-made inspiration pictures: the assistant points out likely AI pictures, sorts the design into what can be made, what needs a change and what cannot, and prices the closest real cake. Your customer sees the changes under From your picture to a real cake on their quote link.
- Wholesale now really prices at your wholesale margin. Set the Mode menu to Wholesale and every quote, whether from the assistant or built yourself, uses the wholesale margin from Settings. A margin you set by hand still wins.
- Sample orders in History are labeled sample instead of teammate.
- Library is now called Costs & Times: what you pay for ingredients, packaging and decor, and how long the work takes. Same page, same place.
- New Calendar sync how-to in the user guide: step by step for Google, iPhone, Mac, Outlook and Android, and why changes take a few hours to show.
- Reopening a cancelled order puts it back at Confirmed when you still hold the deposit (or none was asked), and at Booked when it was refunded.
Plans and your free trial
- Four plans: Founding Member ($15 a month, locked for our first 100 shops), Starter ($19), Solo ($30) and Business ($149, 5 people, team tools). Only AI photo quotes are counted; quotes you build yourself, orders and customers are unlimited on every plan.
- Quarterly billing saves 10% and yearly saves 20% on Starter, Solo and Business. Founding Member is monthly only, with its price locked while you stay subscribed.
- Every plan starts with 7 days free and 3 AI photo quotes. You add a card to start, nothing is charged during the trial, and it becomes the plan you picked unless you stop it first.
- Want to start paying early? "Skip the trial and start now" uses the card you already saved.
- Answer a 2 minute pricing survey during your trial for an extra week and 5 more AI quotes. You can close or hide the offer if you would rather not.
Managing your plan in Billing
- Change plans any time. Upgrades start right away; downgrades and billing period changes start on your next billing date.
- Update the card on file. If a payment failed, the new card is charged right away and everything goes back to normal.
- Buy AI quote packs (25 for $10, 50 for $15, 100 for $25). Packs are used after your monthly allowance and never expire.
- Add a person for $10 a month, or remove an extra seat. Invite people under Settings, Team members.
- Every charge or plan change asks you to confirm first, so a stray click never costs you money.
- If a monthly payment does not go through, you get an email and a banner, and everything keeps working for 10 days while you update your card.
- Canceling asks a few quick questions about why, so we can fix what is not working, and shows a cheaper plan if price is the reason. You keep everything until the end of the period you paid for, and you can undo the cancellation any time before then. Stopping a trial before it charges works the same way.
- Problems signing up or paying? A short help form sits right under the plans in Billing, and a person replies.
Pricing
- Your speed: in Library, tell Cakulate if you or your team are faster or slower than standard at each kind of work (baking, finish, stacking, piping, Lambeth, painting, sugar flowers, toppers), from 50% faster to 50% slower. Every new quote follows. Times you have logged in Time check are kept as they are.
- Cricut toppers made in house are priced per set: small, medium or large, at your decorator's pay, plus cardstock by the sheet.
- Lambeth and overpiped cakes are priced element by element from the number of piped lines, colors and tier size.
- An added tier is never priced below what that tier would cost on its own, and plain tiers start from updated ingredient and prep costs by size.
Calendar
- Month, week, day and agenda views. The agenda lists the next 90 days, day by day.
- Filter by draft quotes, sent quotes, deposit due, booked, completed, and declined or cancelled, each with its own color and a count. Cakulate remembers your view and filters.
- Daily limits count only real orders, never quotes.
Easier to use
- New shops start with a few sample customers and orders, one of each status, so there is something to explore on day one. Remove them all in one click under Settings, Sample data.
- Quick Start: a twelve step guide from sign-up to your first paid order, and a one minute on-screen tour of every screen (Tour, at the top of the workspace).
- A cleaner plan chooser with the plans side by side and one card form.
- Your shop name in the header instead of account menus, and a Team members page in Settings for invites.
- The pricing survey has clearer questions with big answer buttons and a progress bar.
Security and privacy
- Each shop's data is walled off from every other shop in the database itself, and we test that on every change.
- Billing details can only be changed by Cakulate's own servers, never directly from a browser.
- The quote assistant is tested against attempts to make it reveal other shops' data or our pricing method.
